I am a student of music and specifically the Concertina in the School of Hard Knocks. The only instutition where the too cheap to pay tuition will learn.
I ordered a new Morse Albion in February of 2009 and recieved it in March. I am currently learning to read music and play the tunes I enjoy for myself and family.
My other interest is solo mental healing therapy techniques, specifically the Sedona Method and The Resolution of Mind. I maintain a website with all available materials for TROM for free download to anyone.

1. Very Good Job HallelujahAl! The Salvataion Army promoted the playing of the concertina for decades and so they developed the expertise in teaching new band members to play. I am happy to have that expertize available again in these training manuals. Thank you Paul Schwartz for making the space available at Concertina.net Sincerely
2. I just sent this email to Paul Schwartz at concertina.net to get the dialog started. "Mr. Schwartz HallelujahAl! an officer in the Salvation Army has secured permission from the Salvation Army to post PDF copies of the Salvation Army tutors for the Concertina at concertina.net. This subject is being perused at the Teaching and Learning forum. Can you get together with him to arrange for these books to be made available on the concertina.net home page. I think a download under the Learning to Play heading would be appropriate. Thanks Pete McLaughlin Morse Albion #677"
3. This is most excellent work Al i first thought that Concertina.com's library format would be good for the tutors but i have been trying to get ahold of them for a week with no success. Since all the work was done here and Concertina.net is an active network site for concertina players and sellers i vote that we make them available at concertina.net. setting them as a download under the "learning to play" heading of the concertina.net home page would be a good place for the tutors. Sincerely,
4. According to United States Copyright law the 1935 edition of the Salvation Army Tutor for English Concertina is still under copyright protection. If anyone has an earlier edition than the year 1923 it would be in the public domain. later republishing of a document does not extend the copyright. only new additions to the material republished would be covered by a new copyright. I found this information at this website: http://onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/okbooks.html So we are waitig to see if halaluliajahAl! can get us permission to reproduce the book from the Salvation Army. Keep your fingers crossed.
5. Surely it is his problem and those of you that want a copy should just be grateful and post your money off? Why ask? Hi Dirge An excellent question Dirge. The point of the several previous posts is the question of the current status of the copyright. If Lesfix's copies are newer and have a more recent copyright than the 1935 date of the last known copyright for the Salvation Army then we have a problem in makeing copies available to everyone as a PDF file. If he has already found that the copyright is expired then we are free to proceed with the digital format distribution. And if he only has xeroxed copies of the origional then we are back to waiting for official word from the Salvation Army. Sincerely,
6. Thats Great Lesfix. Have you resolved the question about who currently wons the copyright to these books? Is there a copyright statement in the copies you sell? Thanks Pete Morse Albion #677
7. Thank you Al that is an excellent plan. and Thank you for taking the time to do it. Sincerely, Pete McLaughlin Morse Albion #677

9. The Salvation Army Tutor for the Triumph Concertina which is a Duet machine is available from this website: http://www.concertina.info/tina.faq/images...tina_2nd_ed.pdf Happy Squeezing! Pete Morse Albion #677
10. Dick I just spent the morning looking for a copy of this book with no luck. I even checked amazon.com in Germany, France and England with no luck. Can you make a copy for me? I would be happy to pay for a copy and postage. i believe 1935 publishing date puts it out of copywright so this would be legal. Sincerley, Pete McLaughlin Morse Albion #677
11. I should expand on the ToastMasters Approach. Get an audience you can confront like a group of 5 year olds. They are very uncritical. Play till you are comfortable with them. Then find an uncritical group of older kids or people in a rest home or kids and their moms. Maybe try playing at the park were people can listen or leave as they like. Only you can judge what audience will make you nervous and what will not. Work your way up to what you consider a tough audience on a gradient. Keep at it, you can do it. pete
12. So far 17 people have downloaded the Right Side chart whild 28 people have downloaded the Left hand chart. As a newbie concertina player i am perplexed. Why is the left chart more important? Pete
13. I like what Ratface had to say about getting mentally ready to play in front of a crowd. Stagefright is a mental problem. You can take the ToastMasters solution. Practice and play in front of audiences who at first are easy to confront like a few children. Then in front of persons who are friendly and then gradually work up to a paying and critical audiences. You can read the book "Games People Play" by Doctor Eric Berne. He spells out how the compusions and inhibitions we have now are the result of the emotionally charged things that happened when we were children. A hyper critical parent or teacher or fellow students who laughed at you in class could leave you nervous at any public performances now. If you seriously want to find the souce of this problem and fix it go to the site www.tromhelp.com and download and read the free book "The Resolution of Mind" by Dennis Stephens. He provides a self administered therapy to solve the compulsions and inhibitions like stage fright. The therapy does not focus on a specific problem like overeating or stage fright but treats all compusions and inhibitions in general. Stage fright will eventually come up and get handled. Recognizing the problem is half of the solution Pete
14. Right click and "Save target as" to download these images Here are two charts I am finding helpful. I got permission from William Meredith to use his Chord chart for the English Concertina as the background and added the music staph to show the Morse Albion 37 key layout and chords. As a newbie trying to learn to read music and play my new Albion this is proving very helpful. You are all welcome to download and use these charts. keep on Practicing Pete Morse Albion #677
