  1. I've often looked at that "born in the wrong century" attached to your posts and wondered which (if any) would have been the right century? 51st century probably. or whenever they invent time travel so I can see which century suits best.
  2. I think it sounds great..added your vid to my faves I'm usually frowning coz I'm concentrating so hard when I play. I prefer playing to a camera rather than a real person. I can edit a video and start again as many times as I like without the camera getting annoyed or bored or judging me.
  3. ooh my area of the country. (Southend that is.) but I couldn't tell you anything I'm afraid...I'm a newbie myself.
  4. Wii is faaaaaaaaaaantastic!!! I'm just about to have a mega session on my Wii Fit. It might make up for the kebab-frites I had at the weekend. I like Wii bowling...its addictive. Oh on the PS2 have you tried the Dance Mat games, or singstar?
  5. Are you going to join in? Join in Spamalot? I'm sure I'll be singing/wailing along very quietly in my seat. lol! *hums* always look on the bright side of life.....*
  6. lol! fab. Stuck in my head is 'always look on the bright side of life' (as I'm going to go see Spamalot next week. yay!) And I'm practicing....lots..I've lost count

I was thinking I could wear my corset that usually stops me slouching. (no sniggering at the back) Would but the printer has broke. so I've got to wait till wither we get a new one or I can borrow someone else's. I handle it by buying 2inch platforms. lol! bodhran joke alert. It would have to be foldable.....as I don't have much room in my room. I have a strip about 40cm wide and 2 and a half meteres long to walk down next to my bed. Thank you.
  8. I'm an expert on purple squirrels..they live in never never land you know.
  9. ha-h'm I've modified my above post to include some photo's. Got a couple from that Tribute to Bert concert at the weekend.
  10. Its hard to take photo's when tall people sit in front
  11. Someone needs to get coding. I can see the Wii Concertina Tutor flying off the shelves next Christmas. That would be soooo cool. I'd love a Wii Concertina.
  12. So what tune is stuck in your head? What are you listening to? What are you learning? (I'm not listening to anything concertina-y at the moment) I am listening to.... Lemon Jelly - Nice weather for ducks
  13. Is that really possible today? There have been occations when in a shop looking for a particular atricle of clothing for my Goth and post-Goth children, I have been so assulted by the bone crushing music blasting forth that panic overwhelmed me. Confessing this panic and my very real need to get the hell outta there brings on the most evil grin from my daughter. My progeny are now given the required cash and I wait outside on a bench where my poor unhinged mind is tourtured by horrible easy listening do-dah dripping out of the Mall sound system.... Beware....Music....is everywhere. Music is a foreign language to me. And I need to find a phrasebook. Goth style rocks. I'm a closet goth....I would love to wear all the outrageous stuff...but I don't have the guts...like some of the music though....but the 'lighter' end of goth. When there's no music playing....its annoyingly stuck in my head. I have no talent and thus will only ever archive average no matter how hard I practice....and I will always be rubbish at playing in my own eyes.

Ditto...and they'd ask for ID. What on earth is an arpeggio? sounds like a pirates wooden leg (arrr-pegeo)
  15. Hmm.. Quite possibly - it's hard to tell because the difference in the sound from the player's perspective and from a recording is quite significant, but I would guess that it is the same kind of buzzing. Did you find the cause of yours? I closed and opened it to the full extent and it got quieter. Then the more I practiced the less it buzzed...now it doesn't do it anymore.
  16. Hmm. It's quite a high pitched buzzing, and voiceless - if I heard it separately from the note, I wouldn't be able to identify what note it was (like you can for a fly's buzzing). It reminded me of playing the piano when someone had put a pile of stuff on top of it so that certain pitches made the whole thing vibrate. is it like the sound on this at about 1.26 http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=kmwZtL7dEE8
  17. If you're inspiring others to play then you're going great guns, LDT! Samantha Its not just me we take it in turns...after dinner I play then my brother plays the guitar, then my sister plays the guitar. (does that technically count as a session?) The funny thing is he said the keyboard must be broken because it doesn't play the notes he wants when he presses them....my grandma's like 'the keyboard's not broken its just you'. lol!

I've figured out a way I just put loads of pillows up against the wall my bed is up against..seems to do the trick. I'm actually rather short at 5ft1...I spend a lot of time looking up at people.
  19. Its not actually a film but I think I remember (memory is a bit hazy) spotting one in the BBC's latest adaptation of Lark Rise to Candleford....it was something squeezable anyway.
  20. Thanks for featuring the vid...and thanks to whoever rated it 4 stars.
  21. I'm rubbish at music...find it difficult to read the 'dots' and was told at school not to continue playing the recorder for a second term coz I was that bad. I've tried and failed the guitar. People run from the room sreaming when I attempt to sing. I've never really been able to get a whole song out of a instrument till now. If I can get a tune out of a concertina anyone can. Well LTD, I am glad to hear the you are feeling like you are getting a tune out of your concertina...good for you, and good for you to pass on your enthusiasm. fjb Well I don't think I'm that good..but my family have stopped closing doors and shouting 'shut up' when I practice so I'm guessing I've improved. lol! My grandparents even ask for me to show them what new tunes I've learnt when they visit. (My grandad been inspired to go buy a keyboard ).
  22. Don't know whether you spotted it but there was a pink elephant behind you.

    Posture

Probably! If you have a firm, hard-seated chair with a high back, try sitting on that when you're playing for a long time. Shuffle your backside until it's tight into the back of the chair - that should give you the best support. You could also place a rolled-up towel in the small of your back. If you're having to squint at the keys while you play, you might be bending forward slightly, which won't help your back. Try keeping your head level and looking straight ahead - that's good practice for your fingering too! example of my posture http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=rAp-aIDDGek I tend to alternate between feet up on stool and sitting crosslegged on my bed. And I squint leaning over trying to read notes on my laptop a lot.

I was wondering what's the proper posture for playing an anglo concertina....because if I play longer than an hour my back aches (not hurts just ache). I have to keep changing how I sit when it gets uncomfortable...and stopping to stretch. Am I just slouching too much?
  25. I think that sounds like a cool idea. maybe you just needed to 'sign up' who was going to take part beforehand to make sure of participation. Like on some writing forums I'm on before we do a pass the pen/round robin story we get people to sign up to a chapter so we know here is going to be participation. Back n topic: I've not used skype before but doesn't msn messenger do the same thing?
