  1. Thanks, I actually sent Colin my extra notes yesterday. The four extra buttons are one button on the left side middle row, left side inside row, right side middle row and right side inside row, all located at index finger location. I asked for a Bb/G#, F#/E on the left and Bb/G#, F#/C on the right. So the idea was to pretty much reverse the Bb/G# and get a push F# on both sides. The "C" is just to go with the "standard" note Colin puts there for Jeffries layouts.
  2. Ed, after analyzing the situation, I'd say that your concertina is too old, and has only six fold bellows. But I'm a good guy, I'll give you 1000$ for it, since I'm a good guy.
  3. You're absolutely right. Maybe I should have made an analogy comparing "George Bush" / "credibility" with "English Concertina" / "irish music" instead... HAHA!! Darn I'm really evil.
  4. Ed you'll give me a heart attack if you keep on going like this. What's next, an old Wheatstone Linota???
  5. I never said irish music had good phrasing and other styles didnt... I just said a previous clip didnt have good "irish music phrasing", I didnt say it didnt have good phrasing. As for the rest, well, a good analogy of what you're doing would be to try to lecture people on politics when you don't even know who George Bush is, it's a bad start if you want to be credible. By the way those musicians cover pretty much all instruments played in ITM, but there's no harmonica or hammer dulcimer I must admit :-)
  6. Yeah will get the inversed C#, so I'll have both. I was thinking an F# on the push on the left side, and maybe a low A on the pull that's closer than the one on the G row could be great. It seems Colin Dipper is finished with the concertina frame itself, buttons bellows etc, all is needed is the reed work. I'm waiting for him to tell me where are those four extra buttons :-)
  7. I'm pretty sure it's sold, to someone I actually know.
  8. Thanks guys, yeah I don't even know where exactly the four extra buttons are... I guess I'll try to get the information before the reeds are made :-) F# push / G# pull sounds like a good idea...
  9. I might be getting a 34 buttons instead of a 30 buttons, and was wondering what notes you'd suggest be added on the extra buttons. I know a push F# would be very handy, but I'm clueless about the rest. Maybe there's a "standard" extra buttons for Jeffries layout out there?
  10. I'll wait a couple of days for when the canadian dollar will be worth US$10 :-)
  11. I'm wondering though, is there many ITM musicians with anglos that show up in english sessions and are very motivated at playing english tunes? I wonder if they do a better job at adapting to the style, and if some english musicians are annoyed with the same stuff many ITM musicians are.
  12. And what, for you as a Canadian, is "Irish style"? Cheers, John I could not answer that, I don't have the word for it, but as a canadian who goes to Ireland and New York relatively often, there's a mix of musicians I've met and really like listening to: Mary McNamara, Edel Fox, Tim Collins, Mike Raffery, Brian McNamara, Eoghan O'Sullivan, Mary Bergin, Catherine McEvoy, Mick O'Brien, Michael Rooney & June McCormak (when on concertina and flute), Geraldine McNamara, Eamoon and Geraldine Cotter, etc. My big weakness is that I don't listen enough to the older musicians, but I'm slowly trying to change that. Even though I can't nearly play like them, I think I can recognize a good irish phrasing style.
  13. Ed you're evil. I will contact you in PM ;-)
  14. What I see here is someone with great talent who doesnt really try to play irish style and would not want to anyway. It's the type of stuff that would drive me nuts after a few minutes but I still think is a genius in what he does. But those of you who think this is good ITM, well, maybe you're an english player trying to play irish?
  15. Wow, I saw this thread late, but the clips of clunktrip are awesome. I didnt know it was possible to play irish music like this on an english. To be honnest, so far the irish tunes I heard on an english never had that swing that make irish music interesting to me. I get the feeling that you need to be very, very talented to play irish music the 'right way' on an english. Heck, I am being provocative? I do hope so!
  16. Thanks for the explanation Greg, very interesting.
  17. What seems to be forever is my credit line though...
  18. A stupid question but what is Ambonya and Shantyman? What's different with this model than 'normal' anglos? * oops disregard the question, it seems I can't read, it's all in the initial post.
  19. Ben, do you realize that Albany is four hours driving for me? It's painfully close. I think I'm going to cry.
  20. It's torture.... and New York is so close to me...
  21. I get the feeling eBay wouldnt like that and would not allow you to do this, but it's just a guess. Hopefully Google Checkin will become popular enough. Sometimes you gotta fight evil with evil :-)
  22. Wow, would love to see pictures of that baby. It's a good thing I'm broke already, or I'd get broke again :-)
  23. Actually, I'm not looking for one, circumstances are that I wouldnt buy one at this time. I know my posts in this thread sound like comments from a digruntled wannabe buyer, but it's not really. I think there's enough info in this thread for people to know that Sean is certainly trustworthy, but very hard or impossible to reach. I learnt not to make such a hasty comment like my first one in this thread (amd maybe send private messages instead), and maybe he learnt put more emphasis on communication in the future.
  24. OK then let me rephrase what I wrote earlier. If you email or message Sean, don't expect an answer or a relatively quick answer, because he doesnt have internet at home and rarely has a chance to get on it. I hope it's better written and less unfair. I should taken the time to write my message this way at first. PS: But I'm glad you miraculeously reappeared to answer this thread, a few minutes after I wrote my message... I'm guessing you've got good friends who frequent the internet, maybe.
  25. As I said in private message, I believe you did. Now I don't want to make a big fuss about this, but never answering emails, from different people, when you put somethig for sale on the *internet* from my point of view is bad behaviour, that's all, nothing more.
