  1. I’m working on a two part reel called “Crowleys Reel”, which I’m sure most of you are familiar with, although I’m not! I’ve always heard a tune by the name of “Master Crowleys Reel” but “Crowleys Reel” is much different and new to me! I love the tune but I’m having trouble finding recordings of it on YouTube! Do any of you play it and if so could you post a recording?! Cheers! I play a Mcneela Anglo c/d.
  2. This is awesome! Thanks mate!
  3. I get confused to Roger. Being self taught and learning a lot of tunes by ear, I’m not the best at reading music or at understanding music theory but lord knows I’m trying haha It’s a fun process non the less!
  4. I Appreciate your responses! I’m still getting use to the range of the c/g concertina. I love the bass sound of the left but man it gets low fast haha I’ll try splitting the tube up between both sides!
  5. I have a mcneela 30 button Anglo concertina.
  6. Not naive at all Roger, I appreciate your suggestion! I’ll try this out after work tomorrow! Cheers from Kentucky!

    The Gael

Hello friends! I’ve been playing around with a well known Tune called The Gael, aka The Kiss, aka The Last of The Mohicans theme song. I use to play this on the fiddle but now I’m trying to work through it on the concertina. Has anyone else attempted to learn this? I’m wondering what key would best suit this tune on the squeeze box as I’m still a newbie. When I try to mimic what I did on the fiddle I feel like the notes are going to low and this throws me off! Here are some notes from the session that I’m “kinda following”. T:The Gael M:6/8 L:1/8 K:D dorian |~A,3 FED|EDC DCG,|~A,3 FED|EDC DCA,| |~C3 ~E3|GEE EDE|~C3 ~E3|GEE EDE| |~F3 FEF|GFF FED|~E3 EDE|GEE EDC| |D3 DCD|FED EDC|DED DCD|FED EDC|
  8. Hello everyone, my names Adam, I’m from East Kentucky and I’m coming to concertina from fiddle. I’m a (self taught) Irish fiddler, therefore there are a few things about correct ornamentation that I’m unsure about. So my conundrum is….if I’m separating two A notes with a cut do I sound the A first then cut it or does the cut happen right before the A? I can make it sound right both ways but looking at notation the B is in between the two A’s, so that seems to mean to play the cut after the main note?! I’ve been watching Jack Taltys video lessons and honestly He play the cuts so fast that I’m not sure which button he’s hitting first…So could someone help me with this before I get into a bad habit.. Many thanks 🙂.
