  1. For sure, Dave. I just thought it odd considering 'English Concertina' seems usually to connote a different system of instrument entirely.
  2. I've just spotted a Wheatstone Mayfair for sale over on Barleycorn Concertinas and note that the instrument itself says 'English Concertina' on the metal ends! A curious branding decision I thought... Snedder
  3. How do English bellows differ from Anglo ones? I'm pretty new to concertina and have only played Anglo instruments so far.
  4. Seth Hamon's website appears to be offline. 🤔
  5. Hi all, I'm pretty new to playing the anglo concertina and still have a lot to learn. I see lots of descriptions of instruments as having either flat ends or raised ends. I wondered what the difference is here and what the purpose is? Is it about tone? Ergonomics? Aesthetics? All of the above? Snedder
  6. For example: https://www.donedeal.ie/keyboards-for-sale/concertina/35152475 https://www.donedeal.ie/brassandwind-for-sale/the-clare-concertina/35228573 I have no connection to any of these sellers
  7. Hi Matt, Here's the link to The Clare from Irish Concertina Company - https://www.irishconcertinacompany.com/the-clare I've seen a couple of adverts on donedeal.ie for second hand ones recently too that might be worth checking out. Good luck!
  8. Hi everyone, I'm fairly new to the anglo concertina and very new to this forum. It's time to upgrade from my basic beginner concertina and I've been deliberating between these two models - the McNeela Phoenix or the ICC Clare. Does anyone have experience of playing and handling both? Is the ICC Clare worth the extra money? The Phoenix is a whole lot cheaper. I know that better concertinas pop up for sale 2nd hand from time to time, but I'm never quick enough off the draw. I'm based between Ireland and UK. Any advice gratefully received!
