  10. I was watching a video last night of the Scottish band The Whistlebinkies playing a concert in Haddo House, Aberdeenshire, with Stuart Eydmann on Concertinas & one of the tunes they played was this cracking wee 4 part March ... which I just had to learn & record today, as you do. The Queen’s Welcome to Invercauld. A Scottish March, composed by J. Scott Skinner & published in 1884. Played on English Concertina, Fiddle, Tenor Banjo & Bodhran. Lockdown Video #518 Cheers, Dick

  12. Two Irish Hornpipes, played on the English Concertina & recorded to celebrate World Concertina Day 2023 ( 6th February ) #1 - Concertina Hornpipe ( aka The Bank of Turf ) #2 - Concertina Hornpipe ( aka Brendan's Fancy ) Cheers, Dick
  13. Our North Antrim folk group, Scad the Beggars, spent a most enjoyable morning today, playing for the Ballymoney U3A group, Co. Antrim Northern Ireland. . This gave me another opportunity to give a little belated mention of World Concertina Day & of course promote the instrument. . After the wee concert a lady approached me & told me she used to play the Accordion, but wasn't able to any more. However, someone had left her a Concertina in their will & although she didn't know whether it was an Anglo or English, she was keen to get some lessons & start playing it, so happily she will be joining my wee mixed instrument class here in town, next week. 😎
  14. Hi Takayuki, as promised, I had a go at learning & recording that other Concertina Hornpipe ( Brendan's Fancy ) this afternoon. 🙂 Cheers, Dick
  15. Ah that's great, many thanks for the new link. 😎 Yes, another lovely tune, well played. It's not one I play, but given the date I might just have a go at learning that one today. Cheers, Dick
  16. Yes, that's the one. I was lucky enough to spend a week in old John's Fiddle class at the Willie Clancy week, back in the late 70s. Here he is that year, with Bobby Casey & all the Fiddle students that year. Bobby actually spent the week helping John in his class that week & it was such a pleasure hearing them play together. ( Photo, I believe was taken by John Kelly junior ) That's me, just behind John's left shoulder ... like most blokes back then - Big Hair & Beard. 😀 .. I still have the Beard. 😉 As for this Hornpipe, I actually really liked Sean Keane's brilliant version of it, so my playing of it is closer to his. For my money, Fiddle playing just doesn't get any better than this - Sean Keane ~ The Bank of Turf Cheers, Dick
  17. That's a pity. I can't listen to your recording as I don't own a smart phone, so I can't access it. Did you post it anywhere else? I'm guessing it's this one, also known as Brendan's Fancy: Brendan’s Fancy Cheers, Dick
  18. Happy World Concertina Day 😎 I recorded this Irish Hornpipe on my own Wheatstone Concertina last night ~ The Bank of Turf, which I believe old John Kelly sometimes called The Concertina Hornpipe. Cheers, Dick
  19. Hi, Sorry, I only spotted your reply/question today. 🙄 Yes, but in Scotland historically we tend to call it a Trump. Cheers, Dick
  20. Lovely stuff Greg. 😎 Thanks for posting the link. 👍 Cheers, Dick
