snw469686
Hello everyone. Some good people over at accordionists.co.uk have directed me to this forum and I hope that someone may have some info on a concertina. One user suggested it is a "1980-1990 itialian made Cheminitzer". Here is a link to the forum post over at The Accordionists Forum http://www.accordionists.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=2786&p=28180#p28180 I have this old concertina that I inherited from my grandfather that I am looking to identify and get a value on. I will try and provide as much info as I have on it. My grandfather purchased this accordion in a first attempt to self teach himself the instrument. I believe he played around with it for a year or two but then it was stored away in the attic for decades. This was most likely purchased somewhere in Michigan or Canada, probably between 1970-1990. After looking all over the instrument, the only writing I can find is "VARITONE" and "MADE in ITALY" which appears to be etched in by hand. As far as I can tell, there is no writing on the box that it is stored in either. This accordion is absolutely gorgeous with gold and pearl inlays and accents. It is in perfect working condition. There is some old sheet music and music books in the case with the accordion as well. If anyone could provide a value, best method of sale, and more descriptive information it would be well appreciated. I can take more pictures and upload them if needed for ID. Thanks everyone again and hope to hear from you concertina enthusiasts soon.
Wolf Molkentin
Sorry to further directing you elsewhere but I reckon this is where you'll probably will find better information and advice. However, from our point of view your concertina looks familiar insofar it is hexagonal which I haven't experienced with Chemnitzers or the likes as yet...
