France and Japan

Have concertinas ever been made in France or Japan? Are there any makers active in either country now? There was an old Tombo (Japanese) melodeon on eBay a week or so ago, so perhaps they or someone also made concertinas. Tombo is still very much in business, by the way, and they make first class harmonicas.
