Vintage Concertina Pictures

Recommended Posts

I have updated my Vintage Concertina Pictures page and added lots of “new” images. Thank you to all those who have been sending me files. It’s an interesting project that would not be possible without you. Lots more great stuff out there, so keep them coming.

If you are a regular on these pages then you have already seen many of my recent additions. Aside from the posts on cnet that I have gleefully harvested these are the new ones. Click on these or better yet, scroll through all 109 pictures.

No concertinas here though I do see three free reed instruments, can you find them? Flutina, harmonica and one-row button accordion. What are these people up to in Texas c.1900? Thank you Jared Snyder for this gem!

Thank you Pam. I have certainly enjoyed putting all these great old photos in one place for us to look at. I want to thank again the many folks who have shared their files with me so I can share them with you.

As for the Texas photo...

Sorry, I misidentified one of the instruments in this photo. It’s not a Flutina. Nor is it a...

Buckeroos????????

I love your gallery Jody; as I've said before I'm very grateful that you take the trouble. Anyone who hasn't given it the once-over is missing out. There's some gorgeous pictures. Real time travel stuff.

Here are a few pictures, one of which I just posted but might have been missed in the chatter.

The cover of a songbook published in 1938 in New York:

From Punch, September 11, 1957, a feature called "Hoffnung's Menagerie" included several animals made of musical instruments and items, including this one:

Boney, your offering of the Punch cartoon reminded me of a student I had two years ago. A wee bit autistic but with a great, creative sense of humor, he invariably referred to my ten-fold Bastari as " The Dread Concertina Worm".

Miss that kid...
