Hexagonal case repair & query on soft case (non-padded)

I have a slightly tatty hexagonal case-if's fine apart from the the panel that attaches to the hinged top cover - this panel needs to be repaired - i.e. braced to the other 5 hexagonal sides if you follow.....I can glue them although the gap that's there looks like it will take a lot of glue...somebody previously tried to nail the panel to the other and made a mess of it....

 

I was thinking of using a 2 modified 90 degree bracket if I could find one small enough - opened up to opened to 120 degrees approx....any thoughts?

 

If this can be done sucessfully then the case will be fully functional although so I don't see any reason not to use it but I think I've seen a soft case with light padding that fits over these standard hexagonal cases, which I think would be a good investment..... can anybody recommend a source for these cases?
