  1. I have a slightly tatty hexagonal case-if's fine apart from the the panel that attaches to the hinged top cover - this panel needs to be repaired - i.e. braced to the other 5 hexagonal sides if you follow.....I can glue them although the gap that's there looks like it will take a lot of glue...somebody previously tried to nail the panel to the other and made a mess of it.... I was thinking of using a 2 modified 90 degree bracket if I could find one small enough - opened up to opened to 120 degrees approx....any thoughts? If this can be done sucessfully then the case will be fully functional although so I don't see any reason not to use it but I think I've seen a soft case with light padding that fits over these standard hexagonal cases, which I think would be a good investment..... can anybody recommend a source for these cases? Thanks in advance
  2. Hi I'm guessing that chamois leather might be suitable for the above but can anybody recommend a source for it pre-cut - the straight parts are easy to do but the round bit in the centre of the reedpan is more tricky I imagine? What do repairers usually do? Thanks in advance
  3. Hi all I have a metal ended Lachenal - in the process of being restored - the strap brackets are dark wood - if you understand what I mean - however the varnish/lacquer has worn away on part of them so ideally I would like to remove all of the finish and refinish them - as the instrument now has a new bellows and has the metal ends rebuffed.. Any suggestions on how to do this and what type of (very) dark brown lacquer should be used to refinish the wood? Thanks in advance A2fan
  4. I am going to restore a metal ended Lachenal in the next few months - first step is a new bellows - I believe that C Dipper makes them and that they are available from concertina-spares and concertinaconnection and also - what is the general consensus as to the best quality? Are there any others worth considering? Any info appreciated Thanks
  5. Just wondering what the ballpark price of a 6 or 7 fold bellows to suit a Lachenal 30 key C/G would be - and who would supply the same
