Ptarmigan
I just enjoyed watching on YouTube, this classic episode from that wonderful show The Vital Spark It brought back happy memories of watching all the originals, many, many years ago. Sadly I understand that the BBC destroyed most of those shows! ........ The EEJITS! Anyway, I've just learned to play the theme tune & I was wondering if this is actually a Traditional tune or was it composed especially for the show? Am I correct in thinking that it was Willie Smith who played the Concertina music for the show? Ptarmigan
Of course, all the answers are on Stuart Eydmann's Thesis: The Concertina in the Music Hall and Variety Theatre N.B. See photos at 226a & 226b plus the following fascinating info. Thanks Stuart. Dick
