Ishtar
My EC sounds not quite right on a few of the higher notes. Can I trust a diato repair-person with it, or should I search out a specialised EC repairer? How long does it take to correct the tuning anyway? Larry Stout
I think it probably makes a difference what kind of EC you are playing. Is it a Stagi with accordion reeds in reed blocks or is it a vintage box with concertina reeds in dovetails on the reed pans? The innards of the Stagi would be close to what your accordion repair person is used to (at least based on the one I once owned). That said, I'm sure there are others on this list better qualified to advise you. I haad my vintage (circa 1850) Wheatstones worked on by the Button Box and Wim Wakker, both of whom did a very good job, but both are (now) in North America. You probably want a repair person closer home.
Ishtar
It's a Stagi. There are lots of diato players here in the south of France, so that's good news if a diato mender could deal with a Stagi. The thought of sending it off somewhere in the post - ouf, I'd have to spend a few months by the roadside, and it's far too cold for that! Thank you, Larry. Thank you, Larry. reed tuning does not in reality vary that much from one type to another. There are some minor differences but not really huge in how one goes abut it. A Stagi English is a bit of fun in the positioning of the reeds make for a bit of fun in getting the voicing just right but other than that they are relatively easy to tune. Yes a good Accordion repair person should be able to both tune it and voice the instrument completely. Hope you find some one who is willing to work on it and that they do a good job.
