Stephen Chambers Posted December 18, 2007 Share Posted December 18, 2007 I've always preferred the tone of wooden-ended Englishes and, though I've tried plenty of them, I'd never found a metal-ended one that I liked until I got Alf Edwards' box a couple of weeks ago. But I'm convinced that the biggest factor in the magnificent sound of that instrument is that it was played by Alf for nearly 50 years! (Though the fact that it's an Æola probably helps!)
