Seanma At Framingham State 10/17/05

We are very please to announce that SEANMA will grace Framingham State College with a program on October 17, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. If you would like to come, I'll arrange parking. This event is free and open to the general public.

Allison, I hope the flood waters in and around Keene didn't wash you away! Or, that they deposit both you and concertina safely in Framingham for your concert, at least.

 

As it is, I hope to be there on Monday, maybe with a friend, not sure yet. (It's still on, right?)

 

Mark, I'll probably contact you to ask about parking, a bit later, though I'm fine with just finding whatever's available when I show up.

Wendy me darlin' tis' on fer sure (God willin' an' the creek don't rise anymore than it has ). The ladies from St. Patricks Manor (3 of whom have reached their 100's), Golden Age Club from St. Tarcisius and at least three classes of of students will string me up should Seanma not appear!

 

I'll have an orange cone in a spot for you next to the chapel with "Bellowbelle" clearly marked. Directions and a site map will be emailed to you today.

Thanks, Mark. I did e-mail you in reply to your e-mail about my address not working, but, just in case it didn't fly: wrongwaywendy-pics@yahoo.com will work (that one is publicly shown in my profile at my website), as well as the ones that I gave in my e-mail.

 

I will probably sneak into Framingham via any back roads I find....meaning, route 85, etc...I don't care much for route 20. Those busy roads are very scary for people like me who live on (so-called) rural routes!!!

 

Hey, then again, maybe I'll take the train...though, that still puts me on route 20. Well, I'll get there! I need a day away, and this will be fun.

 

Edit added...I think I mean route 9, not 20. Anyway, I know I like route 85 better than either of them!

Directions on the way to you. Don't take the train! The station in Framingham is a nightmare and scary even at midday. My route will get you there all back roads from 85 I gar-on-tee!

Thanks, Mark. I did get the directions -- I'm replying here, since my e-mail has seemingly been fickle (...won't even send me stuff from my own mother, anymore!).

 

That's sounds good, going that way. No need to worry much about route 9.

 

I can do traffic well when I'm used to it, but, where I live, just seeing two cars pass by while walking my dog is a big deal. I'm used to owning the road, these days, so I hesitate to get out there in much traffic!

A great concert indeed! I was very pleased with the fellowship as well. Thank you for coming Wendy.

 

Allison, Mary Lynch (the Irish lady who complimented your Gaelic) wrote me a nice email after the concert. She and many others were moved. Bravo! I'll forward it to you.

 

A perfect Fall day, fine company for lunch and a wonderful concert. After turning the chapel back 'round for tomorrow's mass, I stood there for a while and soaked up the last bits of Seanma's energy shared with our little college community.

I'll post here, since my e-mail service has sometimes been at odds lately....

 

I happened to grab an Arts & Humanities brochure (...the last one on the table!) on the way out the door after the concert in Framingham, and there are a lot of good programs coming up....I intend to go to the one on December 6th in the evening, the Illustrated Reading Of Charles Dickens, where Mark will be playing his English concertina, too!

 

I may try to get to some of the other events, later in the spring.

 

The easy travelling is a BIG factor, for me. The fact that I can take 'country' roads (as compared to the race-track ones) makes a world of difference in how the whole day/evening ends up. (I hate to admit that I'm that easily influenced, but....well, that's the truth. I hate busy roads.)

 

Mark, your work as an educator, your artistry and your kindness (driving directions, etc...) are so appreciated.

 

Again, Seanma was SOOOOO worth going to hear. I really did love listening to the Allison and Melanie. The combination of English concertina and harp is really amazing....oh, and along with Allison's singing, too!

The Gatepost (our student paper) did a little review. Here's the link. There are a couple of nice photos in the hard copy. It's a pity they didn't make the on line version. As I recall, Melanie and Allison said the reporter had a "major pair of shoes on". I must get out of my office more often.

(added as explanation after reading the review) Our students refer to all musical offerings as "a song". Frustrating if you are reading a paper on Bach's Brandenburg Concerto Grosso no. 3, otherwise it's kinda cute.
