The details:

"C. Jeffries Maker" 30 bone button C/G Anglo, metal ends, 7 fold bellows. This instrument was purchased from a couple in Bath, England in 2006.  It was extensively refurbished by Colin Dipper at that time.  The action re-tooled by him again by him a couple of years later.  Bellows by Rosalie, with paper and all new tooling in the Jeffries design. I have the receipts from Collin available. A check-up and a few notes re-tuned by concertina player Tony O'Connell in 2018.  It had a note retuned and an addition of another low D by Stephen Chambers in 2019. It has that classic Jeffries tone, but quite mellow and sweet at the same time. It is in excellent condition.  It comes with a travel worthy, water resistant, black hardshell case custom made from Jeff Thomas Concertinas in Canada.

The Story:

I'm just now wrapping my head around writing this ad.  We've called this "The Magic Concertina" all these years and it has been my pride and joy since 2006. I've played it at home, on stage, mic'd in and multiple countries and I and my music community are still perpetually taken with it's sound. I've had one well known player pretend to sneak out the back door of a pub with it, and one offer to trade their own instrument outright for it.   I certainly wouldn't be selling it but for a neck injury that is causing me not to be able to play at all anymore.

Collin Dipper called it "The Old Jeffries", he loved it and worked on it with an unheard of turnaround time of six weeks.  The endplates are original but the soundboard was too damaged to keep. Colin told the story of how serendipitously, the British National History museum contacted him and said they were demolishing their 1870's entomology cabinetry, and did he want period wood for his shop.  He remade the soundboards from this wood, you can still see the pinpricks from the insects inside.

I paid $8,700 for it in 2006.  The market isn't what it was then, and I'm asking $7,800 for it with the case and shipping.

Sound files available for serious enquiries. More photos available. Please email and I'll send them over. Or someone comment on why even one says the file is too big....Thanks
