Berklee Mooc On "improving Your Musicianship" Starts Oct 15

Recommended Posts

Whoops, wrong date in the title and I cannot edit it. The course starts on October 13.

Berklee are re-running this course soon. I started taking it earlier this year but had drop it in favor of the (much tougher) Edinburgh course on Music Theory.

I plan to try it again in October.

This is a fun course that concentrates on learning and playing by ear. It does assume that you have access to some kind of keyboard, but even a smart phone keyboard app would probably do.

The final project is to compose, play and record a 12 bar blues which I think can be done on a concertina.

Has anybody else tried this course? What did you think of it?

Don.

I have started this course last time it was on, but had to drop it after three lessons because of complete lack of time… Maybe I'll take it again in october, I haven't decided yet. After those lessons I followed, I must say, that this course seemed rather dissapointing - a good ear training requires a lot more material than a couple of repetitions of basic intervals in each video. If you're interested in doing a lot of different ear training excercises, I suggest looking at a nice piece of software called Ear Master: http://www.earmaster.com/products/ear-training-sight-singing/earmaster-6.html.
