m3838
I know Tango has had a rise in popularity in Britain, have any British bandoneon players emerged (or are any well established?) Tango has always been popular genre in Europe. It's different there from Argentinian concert Tango, and even from traditional Argentinian Tango. One of the most famous Tango composers in Europe was Erzhy Peterburgsky, from Warsaw. After the war he successfully toured South America, including Argentina, for 20 years. Tango and generally music from the 30s is in the rise in Russia, but it has nothing to do with Bandoneon, or any instrument at all. It's music. It can be played on Church Organ. Bandoneon is (relatively) popular in Germany (correct me if I'm wrong), but do they play Tango on them? http://www.youtube.c...h?v=pBnw24sIHRw -------- Polish Tango (no bandoneon) -------- French Tangohttp://www.youtube.c...h?v=lzDlDZmSHEg -------- German Tango ------- Russian Tango --------- Finnish Tango on Nyckelharpa --------- Swedish Tango ------- Church Organ Tango (imagine)Etc. TomB-R
Arne Richards of Oxford Concert Party http://www.oxfordconcertparty.org plays bandoneon, though as I recall from his intro at a fairly recent concert, he's quite modest about his playing, (though it sounded fine to me)
