  1. Standard Jackie, though adjusted for better action. £180. Located in Denmark - buyer pays shipping expenses. If you think my starting price is too high, make me an offer.
  2. My guess would be Mr Lucas Good guess, but wrong. I'd be glad to help, but we're on opposite sides of Denmark, a couple of hundred kilometers from each other, and the trip just isn't feasible right now. So I'm also curious as to who it is. Has he found another concertina player near him? Hi. I tried asking someone I met on melodeon.net, who by chance also fixes concertinas once in a while, so I'm sending my Jackie to Zealand on monday.
  3. Woohoo. I found one of those generous people who'll take care of it for me.
  4. I live i Denmark, sadly. I'll take a look at that thread though - I have to admit though, that I'm probably too clumsy to be able to fix it myself. If I can't find anyone able to correct the problem, do you think that it might be applicable for a return to The Music Room? The button does sound, just not very.. fast.
  5. Got my Jackie, and am quite satisfied so far, apart from my A-key being quite unresponsive when pushing inwards. Can it be made more responsive somehow, or do I need to consult a professional?
  6. Now I'm confused. I've been playing Side Bheag, Sidhe Mhor "forever", in the key of D, and the highest note is a B, not D. That's the high B on the right hand side of the Jackie. The version in the tune database at thesession.org is the same. If the way you play the tune does indeed have a (very) high D (above that high , I'd like to hear it. (Or see it written out, in standard notation or abc.) Then maybe I could suggest alternatives. It appears that I'm an idiot. An idiot with poor eyesight, to my excuse. Of course it's a B. Not a D. Reading music can be a hassle when one can't.. yeah. Excuses. Apologies for wasting your time, good sir.
  7. Yeah, I realised there was missing something. The tune is Si Bheag, Si Mhor. My pardon.
  8. I took the chromatic plunge and ordered myself af Jackie from The Music Room. A couple of days later, I remember that it has only 30 keys - well, it would have been alright, had it had 31, so the amount of keys isn't really the overall problem, it's simply the one key that I was thinking it had. The high D, I've seen it been called. So, here's the thing.. I can always just play it in C, rather than D.. But I'd like to play along other people as well at some point, and I wouldn't know if's possible to ask them to play in the same key, because of my situation. I think I can live with playing in C (I better, anyhow) but would it be possible to have others play in that key as well? The really sad thing is, that at the moment, it's simply because of one single tune - I can't think of others in where I need that D. Si Bheag, Si Mhor, in case I haven't mentioned it. I hadn't. Right. Pardon the rambling. I hope I make myself understandable.
  9. If it is not yet sold, I might be interested.
  10. That's the price I sell them for in Ireland too. Would you be able to ship me one? I'd rather make dealings with an english-speaking person than a german-speaking one, for hasslelessness sake.
  11. The only up-to-date sellers I have found are diatonie.de and themusicroom.co.uk, and they're selling at quite different prices.. If I'm going to buy it new, my best bet is diatonie, I think. It looks like a hassle having it sent though.
  12. I'm looking for an in-tune, non-stuck-buttons, responsive 30-button anglo to start learning on. My first purchase wasn't very successful, so I'm trying something different.. Here! I'm located in ye auld kingdom of Denmark - in-country deals would be nice, but I'm not too picky, being one of those pesky high-horse/thin-air globalists. I've got around 250 euros to spend - give me something to spend them on!
  13. Hmm.. I think I've decided to give the anglo a second chance, and find a used Rochelle or similar. Should I make a new thread for that, or just use this one?
  14. Hi folks. I need to get myself a starting instrument. So far I have found two feasable possibilities - the Hohner C48/6 and the Jackie from The Concertina Connection. Which one should I get, according to you guys? They're pretty much the same price, but the Hohner has a lot of extra keys. Thanks in advance.
  15. I'm in Helsingør (north of Copenhagen). ...if you live near enough to come for a visit ..., I can let you get your fingers on a few different kinds, so you can see if any of them suit you before you buy one. ... Helsingør.. That's around eastern Zealand, isn't it? I'm stationed in midtjylland - Brande, to be exact.. Let's hope my geography skills suck just a bit - it'd be nice if it was closer, because I'm quite interested. Nope. Your geography is, unfortunately, accurate. It looks like we're 350-400 km apart by train or car, and there's that big toll bridge in between. Geography aside, I hope you got my mail.
  16. Where in Denmark? I'm in Helsingør (north of Copenhagen). I don't have any concertinas for sale, but if you live near enough to come for a visit (I'll send you a PM with my email and phone number), I can let you get your fingers on a few different kinds, so you can see if any of them suit you before you buy one. But for anything decent, I'm afraid you'll need to pay nearly double what you paid for the Thoman. The entry-level instruments made by Concertina Connection are priced at $340-360 (about €250). No Scandinavian dealer, as far as I know, but others on this forum will be able to tell you how to order them in Europe. Hi there. I was affraid so. That's why I was hoping to find something used, seeing my budget is a bit less than that - it's a bit sad, really, but such are things at the moment.. It'd be nice to try it out though - Helsingør.. That's around eastern Zealand, isn't it? I'm stationed in midtjylland - Brande, to be exact.. Let's hope my geography skills suck just a bit - it'd be nice if it was closer, because I'm quite interested.
  17. I recently bought myself a 20-button concertina from Thomann.de, (name of the brand as well) but all this pushing and pulling with different tones is making me crazy. I think I might be better off with a chromatic one instead, thus this topic. I'm rather new to all this, so be gentle. I'm hoping for a trade - that someone might be able to help a newbie out finding the right instrument. I have been told that I might be well off setting a price as well - How about 120 euros? I gave 160 for it myself, and it's about a week old. I'm located in Denmark - if anyone's interested.
