I think you should give it a try most string players can offer realy good back up to a tune. I played in a small barn dance band for two years ,with key board and 5 string banjo ( I played anglo concertina) not all but some of the tunes gave me quite a buzz. The banjo can give a tune quite a lift just watch the dancers feet.
While this may not be quite your style mixing wiht other instruments will enhance your playing.

hi concertina players
I did ask this question some time befor with one or two answers. I have a 39 button jefferies anglo on the reed plates is incribed bill Ambrose 11 fordens road Liverpool. with the band name of "the ivy band" .one reply was that it was a marching band .and that he may be able to find more information.
I have been unable to recall who the member was, I would be pleased if he could contact me again as looking at maps of liverpool I have been unable to find fordens road, can any one from liverpool help?

As you all will know some anglo concertinas have two novelty duck type call buttons was this limited to one maker or did other makers have similar .

well is the floor level at the start of the session or is the intake of beer the problem

I play anglo concertina for woodchurch morris and so far this season I have only seen one other player at the hartley ale. At the end of a stand the arms start to get a bit painfull with a melodian the straps take all of the weight . but I will not change!
