  1. Hi Jake do you know, or how can I find out what the closing bid was on this concertina? Thanks Phillip
  2. Chris, Tried to download photos but the file was too big... sent some to your personal email Phillip
  3. I have what seems to be a George Case concertina. Mother of Pearl inlay, silver capped buttons, riveted action, and identical to one in the George Case section of the Concertina Museum. The Action box is numbered 1212 , the Reed box 930 , and the bellows 910. In addition there is a date written on the inside of the bellows 24-12- 69. Christmas eve? The hand is fine nibbed and looks old. Are we talking 1869? I think so. Can anyone help me date this or head me in the direction of finding out? I would be much obliged Phillip
  4. Hi Chris I did that and I think you are right! Thanks so much for that Phillip
  5. I am in the process of buying a Lachenal [at least I think it is as there is no maker's name visible but it's identical in construction to my own Lachenal] Inside is the stamped number 930. It has rosewood ends with inlaid mother of pearl decoration, metal buttons, green bellows leather, brass reeds except for two or three of the lower notes which are steel. Any ideas anyone? Phillip T
  6. Thanks everybody that's all good information Phillip
  7. I would like to know do all Lachenal english concertinas come with steel reeds, and what about Tenor / Treble Lachenals? do they always have steel reeds? , are steel or brass reeds 'standard'? I am playing to accompany myself singing, what are the negatives or positives of the two? I'd appreciate any imput.
