  1. These concertinas, parts, tools, etc. are no longer for sale. I've decided to hold on to everyhting for now. All the Best to those who contaced me. Thanks for your interest!
  2. Lachenal 54780 - English 48 Metal buttons (bushed), Metal ends, tight 8-fold bellows. This one is quite playable as-is. Steel reeds, tuned to A-440. The numbers match on the reed pans. The end screw are mostly round-head replacements, but there are a couple that look to be original. One of the strap screws is an ugly replacement. This instrument needs a cleaning more than anything else. The valves, although old, look to be fully functional. Same for the pads. Could it be improved? Yes, but I'd probably just check the tuning and use it as-is. It has the feel of a player's instrument rather than a mantel piece. http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/Lach57480_001.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/Lach57480_002.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/Lach57480_003.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/Lach57480_004.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/Lach57480_005.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/Lach57480_006.jpg
  3. Some folks asked more more pictures of each concertina. Here is the first: Lachenal #127663, 30 bone buttons (missing two), Mahogany ends, steel reeds (some with minor rust), recent bellows by Concertina Connection, all pads need to be replaced (some missing), interior numbers match, some cracks in one of the button pans that need sealing, reed pans OK. http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/Lach127663_001.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/Lach127663_002.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/Lach127663_003.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/Lach127663_004.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/Lach127663_005.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/Lach127663_006.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/Lach127663_007.jpg
  4. Yes, the form is quite nice. You build the bellows on it and then unscrew the form and take the pieces out. The portable tuning table is pretty cool, too. It has a large spring inside the bellows and you press down to sound the reed. I really need to post a video of it in action.
  5. More pictures uploaded to web-land. http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/concertinaLot001.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/concertinaLot002.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/concertinaLot003.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/concertinaLot004.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/concertinaLot005.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/concertinaLot006.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/concertinaLot007.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/concertinaLot008.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/concertinaLot009.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/concertinaLot010.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/concertinaLot011.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/concertinaLot012.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/concertinaLot013.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/concertinaLot014.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/concertinaLot015.jpg http://www.moonrisemusic.com/concertina/concertinaLot016.jpg
  6. OK, time to clean out the concertina closet. Here is the winter project(s) you have been looking for! Anglos: Jones 26BB Mahog ends - needs straps Lachenal #27663 30BB Mahog ends - needs straps, 2 buttons, 2 screws Jones 34MB Mahog ends - good bellows English: Lachenal 48MB Rosewood ends - needs 1 button and straps, case with key Lachenal 48BB (colored) Mahog ends - needs a strap and 1 button Case 48MB Mahog ends green bellows - needs 2 buttons, rustic case Myers 48MB Rosewoods ends - needs straps and end repair / replace Unknown Maker 40MB Metal ends - good bellows, needs straps, tweed case Duet: Lachenal? 46BB (25+21) Mahog ends needs 2 buttons, straps, strap screws Parts and tools: Conn stroboscope (great for tuning - shows overtones) lots of pads, valves, springs, a few straps, clamps, screwdrivers, files, jeweler's saw, electronic tuner, a few used reeds, screws, etc Misc: Antique bellows form, antique portable reed tuning jig, must-have concertina player lamp All the concertinas are in as-found condition. The will need cleaning. They will need to be rebuilt. Unless noted, assume the bellows need to be replaced. Some smell musty. I THINK all the reeds are present, but I haven't opened each one. Every one has wonky, silent reeds. I think all are in old pitch. I need to get $6800 for the whole lot. You could probably part everything out as-is and get more, but I want to sell as a lot. Just trying to simplify, simplify. Shipping will be considerable. I have a couple of wooden crates and I will pack well. A rough estimate is 50lbs, and shipping will be at the buyer's expense, from Atlanta. I prefer USPS, but this might be a job for UPS. Sorry, I won't break up the lot. If I go that route, I'll just rebuild them myself (and keep that Jones). And, at this price, no returns. I have more pictures and I will find someplace on the web to upload them. If there is something specific that you need, let me know. --mo

    Jeffries 39

Well the day of dread approacheth.... I really expected this concertina to be part of my estate, and there are specific directions in my will as to its disposition. But I must sell my Jeffries to raise funds for the tax man. It is a metal ended 39 button (metal) C/G, "C. Jeffries Maker" made in 1893. How do I know the date? It is written inside, along with a signature. I bought this concertina from Paul Davies about 15-16 years ago. I have our correspondence, with I will include with the concertina, along with the case he gave me. The concertina is in good playable condition. The bellows are original, I believe. I always felt that this concertina should be kept as original as possible. It has been retuned to A-440, but most of the pads, springs, and valves are original, I think. Consequently it plays "looser" than some folks care for, but I like it just fine. I haven't played much in the last few years, and I need the money, so we must part ways. But if I hit Lotto South before the concertina is shipped, the deal is off. I will have pictures anon and the concertina can be seen alive and in person in Atlanta. $6060 plus insured shipping --mo mturc@mindspring.com (770) 402-0007 I also have a Tedrow C/G eight sided Anglo and a Jones C/G that I will be selling shortly (sigh).
  13. We often have this problem with Georgia residents. Bob Tedrow Birmingham, by god, Alabama Being an Atlanta, Georgia resident, I have emailed Bill and offered my assistance. I am not a dealer, so I can't rectify the Georgia dealer situation that Bob talks about. However, I will extend the same invitation that Bill got. Anyone on this list may come by and play whatever concertina I have in the house. None for sale, but feel free to try them out. At present I have a Jeffries 39 button Anglo, and will soon have a Tedrow, a Lachenal, and a Jones, all anglos. And there is a Suttner on order that should show up soon. I am a couple of miles from I-85, about a mile and half north of Lenox Square. I don't read this list very often, but you can email me for local contact info. All The Best, mo
