Hi Greg,
Does this concertina have the standard Wheatstone/Lachenal layout? I know that some earlier Lachenals had a slightly different layout.
I still struggle with the best layout for me, I get the sense from the experienced players that you can make most any layout work...just not sure.

I have a Jackie English concertina that I used years ago to learn on that is just sitting on a shelf.

Hi John,
I am looking for something like this and I live in the twin cities!
What kind of layout is it; Wheatstone, Jefferies or something different?
Feel free to give me a call at 612-735-2522.

I am curious and I really do not know if it is reasonable to play with more pressure on the bellows to produce a louder tone, is that a technique that people use?
Can my concertina reeds take that kind of additional pressure? I go through a far number of harmonicas blowing out the reeds and I do not want to be foolish or develop my concertina playing in an impractical manner. Any insight would be helpful
Very Hot in St. Paul,

Hello,
I play traditional irish & folk music and over the years I find myself really enjoying my english concertina (Wheatstone 48, metal ends).
When I play in some sessions that are loud I find it difficult to sometimes hear myself playing. When I play my flute and other instruments you can do different techniques to push the volume.
I am curious what other players do and if you have any advice?

I play EC in sessions, and I'd be cautious about doubting your audibility and get a second opinion.
The sound from a concertina goes out sideways and other people may be able to hear you very well, even though you can't hear much yourself.
I like (if possible) to sit in a corner, with a couple of har d surfaces on either side of you the difference in sound can be quite surprising and the "feedback" is very helpful.
Chris
ps DH, who plays fiddle has the opposite problem, he can hear himself easily enough, but a fiddle a few inches from the ear may make it difficult to hear other people!

I was just about to put this Lachenal Edeophone and a Morse Baritone on ebay with a couple of other instruments for sale when I was contacted by a net member who asked if the Morse Baritone I had put on this forum a number of months ago was still for sale. The deal was done last week (I will be sending donation to Concertina net) so I thought I would chance the Lachenal Edeophone on this forum before resorting to ebay. I bought this from the Music Room a couple of years ago when I was sufferring from Concertina greed (same time as the Morse. It appears to have been fully restored (bellows look brand new) and I think it might have been done by Chris Algar (his stamp is inside the box). Why am I selling - I have a Wheatstone Aeola tenor treble that is a dream to play and meets all my requirements - I am also suffering with arthritis in my thumbs and wrists so playing is greatly reduced - I just don't play this instrument and that is a crying shame. Its serial number is 55981.
I have photos that I can email to anyone interested and will considerany sensible offer- I just want it to go to someone who will play it.
