That is great tzirtzi and thanks.

So LDT, with these skills you already possess, you might be surprised how quickly to manage to play the melodeon and the concertina - each also assisting the other. Just as soon as you let your conscious mind move out of the the way because your unconscious knows exactly what it is doing now.

Very useful Leo and thanks.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Hello All,
I've released my new album for free online. The recordings are here, and the sheet music is here. It's a suite, the first movement of which is in sonata form. Maybe it's the first sonata to be written for Anglo concertina? I'm not sure, but I hope it's worth listening to a little bit of!
Best,
Steven

I am sorry to seem ungrateful for what is a great gesture but unfortunately, the formats you chose are rather unusuable for those of us who are somewhat technically disadvantaged. Unless I am missing something?

I have two left hands when it comes to anything mechanical, even though my father was a boat builder. However, I have opened my instrument a couple of times and tweeked it successfully. So you will have no problems I reckon.
As you can see from my avatar, my instrument is quite a nice antique one too and so I know exectly where you are coming from as I had kittens the first time I reached for the screwdriver.

I am loving this and it is setting a benchmark for my own playing. Alas! I am a long way off yet.

.....haven't a clue what I was doing.
You're pulling our legs now. That one was done so well you fooled me! You really do have a clue now.
Thanks
Leo
Well I had no control of my left hand..it was doing what it wanted. lol! no logic at all.
Just tried this tune again....
I found with the melodeon that my left hand worked once I stopped trying to make it work. So, yes, it is crazy somehow.

FOLKS: i'll certainly second all the plaudits and praise. . . . . listened to it this morning. . . . .many thanks to Jenny, Dave, Ron, and all the others who contributed their time and talent. . . . . .sure wish there were a band like that in new york.............Allan
I wish there were a band like this in every major city.

Well, at least the photograph which appeared in one of the national papers, the next day, showed the musician. Or, perhaps to be more specific, the musician's beret.
That is somehow surreal or perhaps dadaist.
Ian

...... and typical that the photograph of North Wood Morris does not show the musician.
...because he's the most important part of a side...

My copy came yesterday and, after giving it a play, I can only add my praise to those already posted. This is a worthy project and deserves the support of us all.
I would really love to hear this band play live.

Yes that is nice and up to the usual standard Alan sets for himself.

Hammer price £2200 (plus sales commission)
Any body here purchased it?
Al
Well, my estimate of £2000-£3000, depending on condition, wasn't far wrong. It seems Chris Algar successfully bid for it via telephone, with a customer in mind. Ironically, that same customer bid on it via telephone too, and unknown to him, found himself competing with Chris. Having lost out to Chris, he ended up buying it from Chris, who presumably contacted him afterwards to let him know that he at last found him a tenor-treble! I guess he ended up paying quite a bit more for it as a result.
Chris
That's a really unfortunate deal for this chap.

Very nice!
Thanks for posting this lovely playing.

Not half as optimistic as this seller
That seller really is on another planet and I'd be surprised if anyone joins him there.

Let's hope that nipper plays as good as you one day. The future must go on....

I have not seen DVDs for concertina but I play EC and perhaps there is for Anglo.

Thanks Chris,
I'm certainly new enough not to have heard them before. Great stuff!

You might like to have this available for download and I suggest CDBaby who have always treated me fairly in every way: Here.

I have now updated my "myspace" and changed the url : http://www.myspace.com/erbaffdavid
I posted three tunes : an irish reel, a Carolan tune, a French bourée.
This is my first attempt at recording and I did only one take for each tune.
I'm not very satisfied, so please forgive the missing notes, wrong chords, hesitations, messed up ornementations, etc...
I hope that at least you can appreciate the instrument, the player knows he still has to work a lot.
I have learned completely on my own so any comment or advice would be appreciated.
NB The recording chain is : singer's mike / 8-track compact mixer / Edirol mini-soundcard / Dell laptop / Audacity
Thanks David. I loved your playing and believe that spirit in music makes up for the other stuff you mentioned (not that that was so noticeable to me). Imagine how good you will be soon.
