  1. Thank you very much; I'd never have guessed that, but it does make a lot of sense. Cheers Graham
  2. Hi all Excuse my ignorance (I haven't touched a concertina in 40 years and I'm feeling my way back into it with a cheapie Anglo), but I have a simple question: what's the extra button on the left-hand end of a 30-key Jeffries Anglo? As it's in exactly the same position as the air button on the RH end, I'm guessing it's a duplicate air button on the left? Or not? I've never played - or even held - a Jeffries, and I can't see myself affording one in the foreseeable future........ TIA Graham
  3. It is - but it's a polka, not a reel, and it is indeed English. The Session seems to have difficulty classifying anything in simple time as anything other than a reel.........
  4. Thanks; I'm looking forward to giving it a whirl. I'm not expecting anything great from it - it's just a cheapie to see how much I remember and how much I really want to spend a fair amount on a good instrument. Graham
  5. Hi Just a quick hello from Cyprus. I'm a melodeon player really (as several members here will know) but many years ago I had a Lachenal 20-key Anglo that I really enjoyed but had to part with when I needed some cash in a hurry. I haven't owned a concertina since, but I've just picked up an anonymous German 30-key Anglo that I hope will rekindle my interest and perhaps spur me to splash out on another reasonable instrument in due course. I'm sure it will need some work, so I'll probably be asking for help & advice on fettling it once it arrives here. Cheers Graham
  6. I'm afraid that's right; I've just bought a 30-button anglo of about that vintage and in very similar casework with a similar 8-fold bellows for the equivalent of 75 USD. Sorry!
