  1. Well it’s a nice tune.. so thanks.. hope I did it justice.. always hard to judge one’s own offerings!. One always focuses on a note held a fraction too long or not long enough.. or too harsh.. etc etc.. but I suppose that’s all part of the process:) It actually plays well as a tango too, I discovered!.. though I’ve never heard anyone playing it so.
  2. I upload to YT first then ‘share’ from there to here and elsewhere. Cnet tells me I have used 0% of my attachment allowance…. Don’t know if this helps?… probably not with the other media types…
  3. Thanks Matthew.. much appreciated. The problem with my arrangements is that I use a Hal Leonard ‘RealBook’ Lead Sheet, which gives me the melody.. and then I hand write chords and twiddley bits ( bits that I’ve twiddled with!) using pencil which I then often then twiddle with from time to time for the rest of my life.. they being never quite perfect! Since I’m not a proper musician and never quite got to terms with theory (having abandoned my piano lessons at grade 4 aged about 14 (and having a bit of a block about theory as a result of said rebellion), a lot of what I put on the page ends up being unintelligible to anyone but myself, so not suitable to unload on the unsuspecting public. Having said that, I’ll PM you (and if anyone else wants to have a look how I do it ) and can email you a photocopy of the one I did a way back for ‘Cry Me a River’ which shouldn’t give you too much of a problem and plenty of room to improvise! It’s on my list of winter projects to address this and find a program ( &/or teacher to help me!)
  4. Thanks Matthew… Finale sounds right up my street.. will take a look and see if it might work for me on iPad.
  5. Lovely… I’m wondering what program you used to transcribe this.
  6. Thanks Christian.. as I wrote somewhere else, I feel what I’ve learnt with this one is that ‘less can be more’.
  7. Steve Dickinson advised me to buy a good quality goatskin ( about £25 I think 3 or 4 years ago ) from J Hewit & Son’s in Edinburgh.. they’ll post to you. There are detailed instructions on how to go about it below… for a duet concertina but same for any type. I subsequently tried out thinner sheepskin as used to make valves.. but too thin.. not as good. http://www.concertina.com/gaskins/baffles/index.htm
  8. Ta:).. I fitted goatskin leather baffles to replace the old smelly hundred year old gauze, which sweetened the tone nicely. Glad you like it though I’ve just been told I had my microphone facing the wrong way, so might sound a bit brighter next time!🤣
  9. Jaco do Bandolim was actually a mandolin player. The piece is usually played very fast… too fast for me.. but anyway I think it goes quite well on concertina. Apologies if you viewed before. I redid the video to improve the tempo ( I hope) and turn the mic round the right way!🤣
  10. Nb Manha de Carnival also known as Black Orpheus after the 1959 film in which it featured as the main theme tune.
  11. Spent 10 quid on the musixpro app today. Don’t think I’d recommend it for Hayden practice. The drag function to move the keyboard so as to be able to play with both hands simultaneously doesn’t seem to work. Which makes it a one hand wonder. App developer hasn’t responded to my query. Not impressed tbh.
  12. Thanks Simon. Yes I think sound improved with the new setup as previously discussed!
  13. Haha.. yes thanks but am on Edward’s wait list but interested to know how you felt about the different design. Thanks for responding:)
