  1. Great replies, thank you.

It's an endlessly fascinating subject to me.

So why is it that the English like d/g, the French like g/c and

a/d, while the Germans prefer c/f?

Are those standard key signatures for each contries folk music?

I've kinda got my head around the ITM oriented

    opinions on the semi-tone sysyems.

  2. I recently bought a Wren and had it shipped over for a decent price. I started on a Rochelle and found it too big for my hands and pretty stiff. I am finding the Wren easier to play and the right size for my hands. It is apparently assembled in the Irish Musik workshop and tweaked and tuned before sending out. I have no complaints with it as my starter box and hope to trade up for a nicer one when I can. Until then...it's been good to learn on.

    Hello and welcome.

What kind of music do you usually play?

  3. Irish tunes being more or less my comfort zone, I thought I'd take advantage of the November theme one more time before the American Thanksgiving holiday preempts any further productivity this month.

Here's a favorite O'Carolan tune of mine, and one that doesn't get played as often--in this neighborhood, anyway--as some of the others. I like the way it sits on the concertina, and it's also a nice candidate for some Stupid Overdubbing Tricks.

Another brilliant vid. Love the tasteful over dub.

Here's my effort. A humble polka.

Was trying to go for The Rights of Man, but I'm choking on the b part.

  4. Hi all.

It was me who purchased the Peacock to upgrade from my Elise.

I had been looking at getting one and would have had to pay $2600 plus shipping, 3% import tax, 20% VAT and possibly a handling cost.

The concertina is as new, has the Wicky layout, has been played very little, has a hard case included and I was sat at home a day later getting used to the extra buttons I am very happy with the deal.

I will now have an Elise for sale in the SW of England very soon.

    Welcome to the forum!

Congratulations on getting a wonderful upgrade too.

I believe that most of the duet fans here love having new company.
