I was referred to this site by Bob Tedrow in hopes that among all of the experts, someone might be able to help me identify this concertina. My grandfather purchased it in the late 1970's or early 1980's -- probably in Washington State. I have not been able to find any information on it anywhere.

Sally,

That is a Bastari "Chemnitzer" model concertina, made for playing Polka music.

If you look at the ConcertinaMusic.com website you will see that they sold one just like it :

10/24/2003 Bastari 76-key, white buttons, red pearl finish, metal corners, white bellows $168.49

And can read more about this type of concertina.
