Mikefule
Sorry, I was busy and never got round to advertising this in advance. Midlands Concertina Group met in Arnold, Nottingham, yesterday. We meet approximately every 6 months. Although a few of our regulars were absent, we still had 21 people there, of whom 17 had through concertinas and played them. I didn't count the instruments, but a rough estimate would be about 20-25, including a selection of Anglos (including 2 baritones, Englishes and at least one duet. Music played included English.Scottish, Irish and Welsh traditional tunes, some American civil war tunes, and some choral and classical music. The resident trio, Behind the Times, played a couple of numbers. There were two or three duos, and one concertina and flute duet. A couple of people sang, accompanying themselves on concertina. In the interval, a group worked together on some tunes for the traditional Sheffield carols and then payed them in the second half. A very varied and enjoyable afternoon and, as always, inspiring. Nice to see some first timers among all the regulars, too.
