Boney
I'll be at Bones Fest near Washington DC next week, August 20-22, and also in the area a couple days before and afterwards. I'm already planning on going to the House of Musical Traditions, and I've been told about an Irish session at Nanny O'Brien's on Monday nights. I'd like to do some other things, especially if there's anything concertina-related to see or hear in the area. Does anyone have a suggestion? bill_mchale
Up in Baltimore there are a couple of Irish Music Sessions at J. Patrick's near Fort McHenry. Tuesday and Thursday night at 9:30 are the advanced sessions. I don't usually get to the Tuesday session, but I hear it can be very good. The Thursday night session ranges from so-so to great. But even on a poor night you have the Banjo playing of Peter Fitzgerald and on any given Thursday there is about a 50/50 chance of a concertina player showing up. -- Bill
fiddlersgreen
There is an open Irish session at the New Deal Cafe (check their web page) from 3 to 6 pm on Sunday, Aug 22. It is in Greenbelt MD on the north side of the Washington Beltway. Mostly Irish but some contradance tunes and waltzes slip in.
