what does

"International Dispatch, August 08, 2009, 6:31 pm, ISC MIAMI FL (USPS)"

mean? Does it mean its left US yet?

they need a glossary for the terms on that tracking bit.

"International Dispatch" is self-explanatory, USPS=United States Postal Service and ISC=International Service Center (according to a quick search at www.usps.com). It looks like that's one of the processing centers for international mail (others in NYC and Chicago)--I'd guess it arrived there from Birmingham on Saturday evening, and that no, it had not yet left these shores (but if it hasn't by now, it should soon).

Yes, I think that means it has left the US.

Are you going to have to pay much VAT on it?

I know the excitement of waiting, I got my lovely new baby from Harry Geuns a couple of weeks ago.

I hope you enjoy your new concertina.

That's good

It's arriving on the fastest sailing vessal in their fleet. 4 masts matey!

Should be clear sailing if it's passed the Bermuda Triangle. :(

Thanks

I guess you will start to get excited when the item is shown to have arrived in the UK. Then it will seem to take for ever to clear Customs and make its way to rural Essex. ;)

I have no idea...it was all a bit confusing.

I believe Parcelforce operate the UK part. You may be able to track locally.

I've had bad experiences with parcel force though. when stuff (1) arrives and they work out how much they are going to charge (Customs fees, disbursments, Vat etc.), they then send me a letter - yes! a letter - in the post with the invoice. They seem to have no sense of urgency, especially in cases like this where its a matter of life and death.

Your going to love the Tedrow when it does arrive. I have a Tedrow C/G Baritone, a spendid instrument.

(1) Lovely word "stuff".

A bit confusing, what with other charges which seem to get loaded on. However, if you assume in the region of 20% (ouch) you will not be too far out.

At least the £/$ ratio is better than a few months ago. :)

It was a while ago, and the details are lost in time, however I have just imported another item using Fedex.

The item cost $8470

Total amount for duty and tax was:

Duty £173.19

VAT £837.85

Admin Fee £25.28

Total £1036.32

Hmm...I have about £1000 put aside to cover any extra costs. anything I don't spend goes towards my scooter.
