wim wakker
We finally finished the new Wakker Concertinas website: www.wakker-concertinas.com Although technically still part of the Concertina Connection Inc., Wakker concertinas has grown so much over the last years (we have delivered 100+ instruments to date), that it deserved its own site. The new site is dedicated exclusively to our high end Wakker concertinas with traditional reeds. The Concertina Connection site will continue of course, and will deal with concertina restoration, parts, music publications, and instruments sold under the concertina connection brand name: entry level: Jackie/Jack, Rochelle and Elise intermediate: Clover and Peacock (available shortly) MIDI: AMC and EMC models The CC site will also be updated. Wim Wakker Concertina Connection Inc. Wakker Concertinas. It looks very nice! The "Technical/Making of an Anglo" page looks a little funny on Firefox, but I don't know why. Gorgeous pictures of gorgeous instruments though! And instrument guts! Patrick
Gerry
We finally finished the new Wakker Concertinas website: www.wakker-concertinas.com Very nice, Wim - and an interesting read. Just a couple of little glitches - your WA5 and WA6 anglo price lists link to the english lists.
wim wakker
Gerry: fixed the links. thanks Patrick: Since I don't have Firefox, I have no idea what it looks like. "...looks a little funny on Firefox" does not sound good... any suggestions on what needs to be changed? Wim
Leo
..............................Patrick: Since I don't have Firefox, I have no idea what it looks like. "...looks a little funny on Firefox" does not sound good... any suggestions on what needs to be changed? Wim Hi Wim I also use Firefox in Windows. If Patrick is seeing the same thing as me, when you mouseover the thumbnail pictures on the making of an Anglo page, the enlarged picture is not centered on the page. The left edge is aligned under picture #4 and the right side goes to the edge of the window. On the following pages, the left side of the picture is aligned between the words Making of. It's partially covered with the text. If you resize the window, the left alignment doesn't change. The black men bar with the drop down menu has a similar out of alignment on all the pages. In Internet Explorer 8 everything looks centered OK. Nice, easy to navigate design. Thanks Leo
Dieppe
What Leo said. The mouseover pictures come up odd. But hey, pictures! --- Patrick
haimson
Firefox is available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/upgrade.html For the sort of fancy stuff you are doing, you will also want the Firebug Add-on, available from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1843 The problem with the pictures is the dimensions on this div: <div id="beeldplaatsing" style="width: 80px; height: 225px;"/> This is too small to contain the pictures, but they left-align to the div, which is a narrow 80px in the center of the page. "height: 450px;" and no width works pretty well, assuming all the pictures are the same size. David Haimson

Unless you want to edit the page yourself, to see it as he intended, you'll have to use IE. David Haimson
hjcjones
I'm getting the same problems with Firefox. With IE6 the pictures are OK but the menu bar is not centred, it's over to the right. My only other grumble is that it's annoying to have to scroll down to find the picture caption. Other than that, the site looks really good. Superb photos - concertina porn! Ptarmigan
CONGRATULATIONS. Site looks great. The only problem I've come across so far is on English W-E2 ... the fade-in photos are covering up half of the words, at the top of that page. wim wakker
Thanks for all the input… Hopefully all the problems with the photo alignment and overlap are now solved. I don’t know if I can change the position of the menu bar, it is centered in explorer. I have to think about that one. wim

I don’t know if I can change the position of the menu bar, it is centered in explorer. I have to think about that one. wim The photo alignment is not fixed on Firefox. The div now has 'style="width: 0px; height: 225px;"' and it is still placed with its left edge in the center of the page. You need to remove the width setting entirely, and let the content (the img) control the width. Regarding the menu, it is absolutely positioned, with the style "left: 280px". Since this is a constant value, it will work correctly only if the browser is exactly the right width. I suggest you replace "position: absolute" with "position: relative", remove the "left: 280px", and add "margin: 0px auto 0px auto". This will center it regardless of browser width. I'm glad to provide you a more detailed review of your web site, but let's take it offline. If you want to, send me a PM. David Haimson

Gorgeous pictures of gorgeous instruments though! And instrument guts! Patrick I agree, the making of an anglo piece is phenomenal. Though I'm sad you don't have any photos of the 39-key instruments - that's what I want! -David
wim wakker
Our 39 key anglos (A5 and A6) are based on /look almost identical to the H1. Options are the same as the other anglo models (flat or raised wooden ends, metal ends, traditional or duet style hand rests, etc.). The study/development models don't look nice enough to justify a photo.. We should have 'nice' photos of these models on our site within the next few months.
