ScottLutePlayer Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 I am selling 3 new Historical Mandolins that are in new pristine condition, and have never been used, except to make sure they sounded perfect. I bought these a while ago with a view to studying my MA performance on them. However I have since gone in another musical direction and now wish to sell them. They are made by an American maker called Smyskewich, a professional luthier of the highest standard. Being a professional musician I only buy the very best high quality instruments. These 3 Historical Mandolins are the finest you could buy. They are worth £6400. These really are exceptional. I wish to sell them as one lot rather than individually, as they will broaden your musical repertoire these are perfect for Vivaldi and any other Baroque and Classical repertoire. And would be used by the best of players. They come in a padded crate, so I can send anywhere in the world and you can store them here without the expense of hard cases. I have also put in some special oil for the bodies of the instrument. You can play with fingers or with leather or ravens quill, and there is a lot of music available in Tab or standard notation. These 3 Historical Mandolins would suit a modern mandolin player wishing to extend their repertoire, a lute player or anyone wishing to study historical early music with the exact right kind of instrument. You can buy them for a fraction of what they are worth, as I would rather see you enjoying them rather than they are left unplayed. You will not find any better. The Stradivarius Baroque Mandolin has 6c for extended repertoire, this has a flamed maple back, box, and fruit wood and cut rose elegant light and shimmers to the touch, with its sweet harp like sound with lovely overtones. (Exceptional, in mint unused condition) Made from original plans and photos to be as historically accurate as possible. The Genovese 6c Baroque Mandolin also has a flamed maple back and is finished in the same woods. This has a cut out sound hole although a wedding cake rose can be fitted by the buyer; this has a lovely stained antique finish with the same sweet sound which is slightly more hollow quality. (This is also exceptional and is in unused mint condition.) Made from original plans and photos to be as historically accurate as possible. This is also a 6c and you would string this Mandolin up with octave and lower wound strings so it gives a more lute like sound to the Stradivarius, that way you can use both in performance and bring a different quality. The Mozart period classical Mandolin is a lovely example. This is slightly simpler than the others, however its sound is sweet and silvery, something between the modern day Mandolin and a Clavichord. It has a seven ribbed back and is finished in expensive woods. It is also made to historical proportions. The finish on the table isn't perfect but the shear quality of the instrument and its sound make up for any discrepancies. (Vivaldi's famous Mandolin Concerto sounds lovely on this sweet instrument.) If you want any more information, or you want to make a good offer, just contact the seller and I will do all I can to help you. Viewing by appointment or independent evaluations welcome. Photos sent on request and I can split the instruments, I am looking for around £1495 worth of Argentine system Bandoneon, B system or Bayan, Morino Accordion, Piano accordion. Anything considered.
