SqeezerGeezer Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 I read the reviews of the Elise Hayden when it first came out. Now that it's been several months, what do Elise owners think about the instrument? How are you using it, what style music are you playing? I play both anglo and english models, and I'm wondering if there would be any benefit trying the Elise. I am primarily interested in chord accompaniment for singing ITM. A lot of these tunes are in G and D. I can play a basic accompaniment for these keys on both the anglo and the english, but is there any particular advantage that the Elise might provide? What keys are you using and what keys seem to fit the Elise best? The range of the Elise looks somewhat limited in D with no low A or Bb, or am I overlooking something?
Ken_Coles Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 I haven't gotten that far (too many distractions in recent weeks) but I haven't found the range limiting yet. But the question of what system to play chord accompaniment is very individual to you, so I'm not sure how to offer you advice there. But many here can help! Ken
Daniel Hersh Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 I got mine because I've been playing "duet style" (melody right hand, accompaniment left) on Anglo for a while and wanted to try an actual duet. I'm reasonably happy with the Hayden system on the Elise for this, though I'm still in a pretty early learning stage. I've mainly tried hymn tunes and other slow music so far. But for song accompaniment, I'm not sure what you'd gain over an English or Anglo. Regarding the range, the left hand goes down to C below middle C, which is as low as the low end of a C/G Anglo. Does that help? Daniel I read the reviews of the Elise Hayden when it first came out. Now that it's been several months, what do Elise owners think about the instrument?
