michael sam wild Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Thanks to Mark Davis and all the performers and speakers and session participants. A very enjoyable weekend and nice weather in lovely surroundings in the Loxley Valley! There was very good concertina representation. An excellent round table ( in a circle sat in the sun actually) chaired by Roger Digby with Mike Hebbert on Duet, Alan Day on Anglo, Chas Marshall on Anglo, Shay Fogarty on Irish music on Anglo and Roy Clinging on songs and chords on English . Geoffrey Crabb Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 A really enjoyable time spent with friendly, talented people in good weather and surroundings. Thank you to Mark and Joan for inviting me again, for organising the event and their super hospitality. I must also thank those that indulged my sessions and apologise for any deviance (Geoff's ramblings) from the planned topics. I must not forget Helen who kindly allowed me to discuss the repairs she valiantly attempted on a Maccan Duet. I look forward to next year to meet old and new friends. Geoff.

Lovely to see you there Geoff, shame we meet only once a year. Many thanks to Mark for all his hard work. Up there in my shirt sleeves this year with a couple of jumpers packed, but not required. I even managed to sleep in my tent. The Concertina Council was enjoyable for those doing the demonstrations and it seemed to be well received. As usual chaired by Roger Digby who usually starts these talks spot on the hour, not a minute before or after. His non arrival caused a bit of concern and search parties were being organised as he arrived. Only to be told he was watching the Rugby, (South Africa V The Lions). The only comment I can make is Shame I was not watching it with you, but we were all too scared to be late. Lines take a long time to write. Al
Chris Drinkwater Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Although I wasn't there, I got to see some very nice photos of the weekend, posted on Facebook, including some of Geoff with Helen's McCann in bits and they gave me a flavour of what the weekend was like. I went to the recent ECMW in Ampthill (closer to London!) and many of the people in the photos taken at Bradfield were also at the ECMW, a bit like deja-vu really, innit Gavin? Chris

A lot like deja vu, but with more jokes and I didn't notice the repetition... ;-) G

I never make the same joke twice...well, not in the same company. And if it is a good tune, it is worth playing more than once. Chris
