David Barnert Posted July 4, 2009 Share Posted July 4, 2009 I will repeat two pieces of advice that I picked up years ago on the Morris Dance Discussion List that I have mentioned here before. I think it's more for their entertainment value than their practicality. One is that if you put a concertina on a security x-ray conveyor belt, orient it like the concertina bellows in the ascii art in my sig, below. If you put it like the ventilator bellows (also in my sig) the radially arranged levers and circumferentially arranged reeds look like part of a standard bomb construction. The other is that if you are asked what it is, find a way to answer the question without saying the C word. Call it a squeezebox or an accordion, or a musical instrument. But the list of items that must be confiscated includes the word "concertina" because that's short for "concertina wire," which can be used as a weapon.
