Arran Concertina Event 2009

This year's Arran Concertina Event will take place from 2nd to 5th October. I attach a leaflet for your perusal and hope to meet friends old and new at this year's event.

I very am sorry to say that I will be cancelling this year's event. To date there are only three confirmed concertina players planning to attend, plus myself. Even with the two more possibles who have said they may be able to come this is too small a number for the event to be viable.

I have emailed all those who let me know they intended to come, but am posting here, as well. If any of those planning to attend would still like to come over for the weekend or part of it, I'll gladly help find accommodation and arrange/advise on tours, play-ins etc and contact local musicians to see if they want to meet up, too. The folk session at the Ormidale will be taking place (as far as I know) on the Sunday evening.

I am very sorry to have to do this - perhaps the event has been a victim of the economic situation and people don't feel they can afford this type of fun? Would those of you who downloaded the leaflet please let me know what influenced your decision not to come so that I can bear this in mind for future events? It'd be a great help, many thanks.

I will try to run the event next year.

Sorry to hear that I (and friend) was just going to Scotland and was hoping to join you at Arran Island. Did not fill in form yet because we have to know what day exactly we can be there.

Any chance the event can go on anyway?

I can't afford to book the facilities with so few definite attendees. If you let me know when you're here I'd be delighted to meet you for a session and /or point you towards any music that is happening locally.
