I read the forum from time to time but when I wanted to post I couldn't. Thank you very much from your kind coments, but I have a lot to work compared with all the people quoted in these videos. I like a lot the Peter Trimming style too as I saw him in youtube. It isn't common to hear galician music and spanish music on concertina, and it is very interesting. The good thing of the angloconcertina is that is a very versatile instrument. Regards Félix Castro Edited February 1, 2010 by felix castro
Mark Davies
The music from the Panchas Alvarez Ensemble was some of the finest music I have listened to in recent times.Felix, where can we buy CD's of the band?
Chris Drinkwater
Recepción de nuevo a C.net, Felix. I agree with Mark, that the Pancho Alvarez ensemble make wonderful music. Muñeiras Florencio, is my favourite track. Very haunting. Yes, a CD would be nice. Chris
felix castro
Hello, Pancho has launched by now three cds alone with his name, the 1st one and the 3rd one was recorded almost only by himself, he is a wonderful multiinstrumentalist that plays guitar, fiddle, bouzouki, hurdy gurdy, harp, and a lot of things more, in the 2nd one we recorded in several tunes, my brother in five or six, the wooden flute, and me only in three, button accordion and concertina (only in one track I think) and it was launched eight years ago. The ensemble that appears in youtube is mainly for live concerts, as Pancho can't do he all! Pancho is a basic member of the band of the most famous galician Piper, Carlos Nuñez, and he is very busy always with him playing in gigs, etc. If you search for Pancho Álvarez or Carlos Núñez you can see him playing with Carlos, you can see Pancho with Carlos in these links. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bV2NUd-Y9qQ Greetings. Félix Hello, Pancho Alvarez has launched a new disc, "Sonche Atlántico", "I am atlantic". It is an identity affirmation, as many people when think about Spain only think about Mediterranean sea and the sun, and Galicia was and is always linked to the Atlantic Ocean, a country of sailors and emigrants to the other part of the Atlantic Ocean and the whole world. We are playing again with him, we made the presentation at Santiago de Compostela, and perhaps we made a small gig here in Galicia. Perhaps in the next future we record a cd with our ensemble. By now you can here in goear also http://www.goear.com/listen/fe75973/mazurca-do-cachoupiaplusmno-sasup3lidos-galicianos a tune that we recorded in a cd of several groups, "O Cachoupiño", a mazurka composed by my brother and me and with letters of Faustino Santalices, the famous galician restorer of the iberian or galician hurdy gurdy, Rosalía de Castro, the famous galician writer, woman, and Eduardo Blanco Amor another famous galician writer. Pancho Alvarez: fiddle and song, Álvaro Iglesias: Contrabass, Cástor Castro: bouzouki, Félix Castro: diatonic accordion. It was recorded almost live, and is inspired in the Eduardo Blanco Amor novel "A Esmorga", "The feast", the first modern galician novel. Here is the song: (Inglés) If the sea had rails / I should go to see you to Brazil But as it hasn’t them / my darling! I can’t go there Ai cachoupé..... Our homeland muse / there isn’t any devil that understands her When she is serious laughs / when she cries she is happy Miño, Limia, Douro, Taxo / they go straight to the sea And they don’t know where is Spain/ or where is Portugal The rivers haven’t frontiers/ and they don’t distinguísh between nations As we put the frontiers in the lands / don’t put them in our hearts.

Leo
N.B. Sadly, the Comhaltas videos are all now marked as Private! Cheers, Dick Hi Dick I didn't realize this thread was almost 3 years old. Comhaltas YouTube did that a while ago, BUT!!! All is not lost. All the videos are available on the link Laitch put up. It goes back to 2007, so they should all be there.
