Lachenal Anglo 32 key, rosewood ends, C/G

I've got a Lachenal Anglo 32 key concertina for sale, rosewood ends, C/G. Completely restored by the Button Box in 2000 and serviced in 2006 by Bob Tedrow. Beautiful tone. A few keys on upper row, left hand need re-glueing because of the humidity in Florida where I just moved from, but all other keys excellent action. Original velvet-lined wooden case with original latch included. No key.

UPDATE: I just pulled it out of it's packaging for the first time in a year and I was wrong, all keys work fine. My mistake. If you want to see a video of the keys being sounded (as opposed to a tune being played) let me know

 

Bellows in perfect condition, re-papered & leathered by the Button Box. Originally had red leather between soundboard and fretted ends; removed behind ends, except behind serial number. Please note serial number and consider date for yourself.

I can meet you to show this in person at Swannanoa Gathering this summer or in the WNC/Asheville, NC, USA area.

Asking 1700 or best offer.

Could you be more specific about your comment:"A few keys on upper row, left hand need re-gluing....."? Normally, Lachenal buttons have a hole in the bottom, through which the linkage (that lifts the pads) connects to the buttons.

Have you given up playing, bought another instrument or switching concertina types? (English, Duet or Chemnitzer style) If the latter, would you be interested in a trade for a Lachenal English (standard 48-button treble) or Duet? (39 or 46-button Duets, both with McCann fingering) I also have a Hayden Duet and a Silberhorn Chemnitzer, but I'm holding onto those. Cordially, KerryF

You are right - the linkage isn't glued and I'm really not that familiar with the inside of the instrument. All I can tell you is that when it was checked out in 2006, all the keys worked beautifully. Then I moved to Florida, and those keys stopped working. I assumed humidity was the culprit.

I am sorry to say that I am not interested in a trade, since you have some desirable instruments, but I need to sell it outright. Thanks, though

Could it be that the pads are glued and they have come loose? I apologize for my lack of knowledge of the insides but I'm not that handy with tools. If necessary, I can get someone to take a look at it for verification.

Depending on the composition of the glue, (if it was water-soluable) that could be the problem. If the pad no longer lifts, then no air can get to the reed. Hence, no sound. Your description kind of threw me off, though.

Have you checked with Bob Tedrow's shop, to see if they would look at it? They're very good about "standing behind their work" and might repair it for you. One can only ask.....

TYVM for the compliment on my concertina collection! The one thing I lack is a QUALITY 30 or 40-button Anglo! And that's the free reed I play the most! I've even rebuilt a 20-button Lachenal to include incedentals, for lack of a proper 30-button instrument. But, it too has it's shortcomings. Cordially, KerryF

It seems I was wrong - I also updated the listing - Bob fixed those keys in 2006. I just hadn't unpacked it and tried it out before I posted this ad. So. no glueing necessary.
