Alan Day Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 A real rave from the grave this one.I heard it on my first trip to Sidmouth and Webb's Wonders were the only ones in the bar practising this tune. Luckily I was there with them and recorded it.Here is my version of their tune. (GD Box on two rows ,very easy to play) Al

Pete Dunk Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 I'd have to go with Muirsheen Durkin too but it's a long old time since I last heard it, back in my 'yoof' and I was probably three sheets to the wind most of the time in murky cellar bars where the folkies hung out. Ah, those were the days ... The lyrics of the chorus are a bit sketchy too: Oh goodbye Muirsheen Durkin, sure I'm sick and tired of workin' Blah blah, blah blah, blah blah, BLAH blah, blah blah, blah. And sure as me name is Carney I'll be off Californee Instead of diggin' pratees(sp?) I'll be diggin' lumps of gold. 'Appen my traditional heritage leaves a little to be desired!

There are definite similarities,I must admit I never thought it was a Dubliner's Song. As for Mispent Youth I reckon we went to the same places and both suffer hearing loss because of it. I am out tonight, I am only a little older, but still the same habits, but a touch slower. Al
