Stephen Chambers
A shot in the dark - I vaguely remember a publicity photo for a duo - ?Frank Warren and Dave East? - one of whom played English. Does that ring any bells with anybody? Too much hair (amongst other things) for Dave East, who always played an Edeophone when I knew him. And to my delight, I received an email from Dave East (who I haven't seen for many's the year) this morning, saying that the unknown concertina player in the photo "was, of course, Frank Warren, talented, sensitive 'English' player and 50% of 'TAPICERS' ['a magnificent duo' Colin Irwin]- me doing main vocals + other instruments. This was long before I took up the Edeophone [the one you refurbished and tuned for me] and shows him playing his raised-ended Wheatstone; he also had a flat metal-ended machine of similar vintage- louder and brasher, but lovely to play." Frank Warren
It's me, the afore-mentioned English concertina player Frank Warren! Still alive, just about, love to hear from Dave, Stephen, or anyone else from that era. Haven't played concertina really at all since my duo album with Tom Madden in 1977, but have recently revived it down here in Dorset, where I am in touch with, and involved with some music with, Tim Laycock in the community,. Lockdown notwithstanding, hope to get back into playing more soon, both my trebles and baritone currently being restored by http://www.concertinas-uk.co.uk/index.htm!
