Aye but David, you must remember, I only waste time here when it's raining in Ireland!

Like I need to spend more time on FaceCrack than I already do. Sigh.

I've signed up for a couple of them.

Actually there's also a group with the title of "Squeezebox players of the world unite - we'll work out what to do later!", which is predominantly melodeon player orientated (as you might expect, as it was initiated by Saul Rose) - but I noticed that there were actually a couple of concertina players on there .

Ah, but Irene, are they Dirty Rotten Turncoats or Undercover Concertinists? :P

Probably under a Morgan 3-wheeler somewhere...

Couldn't be more right. The Mog is having an overhaul which has got out of all proportion on the 'And while I'm about it...' principle. Doesn't look much at the moment, does it?

Actually Sal has set up a Facebook thingy so that she can show friends and family in England what life in Nz is about on their own computers when we visit them, but I doubt there's a single concertina visible on it. I think in Sal's world they are commonplace so why would anyone want to see one? Might as well photograph the 'fridge. Well she might have done that too...

Fundamentally this is just another opportunity to waste time on the internet. Right? All very jolly but no actually use? (I do actually learn stuff off Cnet; it's not only 'jolly' but of real value.)

Groups on Facebook follow a pretty consistent pattern:

1. Someone sets up a group. preferably with a catchy name

2. A bunch of people join.

3.

As you can see, there's no "3." Most groups go no further than their creation. Not like Concertina.net!

Facebook is the kingdom of the superficial.

That's very true. The design of fb groups is flawed - they're not obvious or found on home pages, not easily navigatable too, and email/in-site warnings about updates aren't default. As a result, there's little chance a user will ever go back to them having joined...

Of course, as it results in less time on facebook, it could be seen as more a feature than a flaw :P
