I just noticed that Hobgoblin lists 3 Sherwood models on their website.

However, I believe that these are different from the Sherwood that once existed. They are cheaper than the Sherwood that once existed.

It sounds like they've got three different samples from a manufacturer, and that they are only for evaluation at the moment - that's how these things are usually done...

Thanks, Stephen!  The text description on the YouTube video confirms what you said: "One of the new concertinas we’re testing out in the shop."  I will hold off on adding these to the list until we see whether Hobgoblin winds up with more than one of each to sell.

Thanks for the list Daniel. I had no idea there were so many makers of concertinas. From your list you were showing Hohner but I figured they had stopped making them since I had not seen any on their site. I thought some other company was making them under their name.  I was hoping it was not a chinese company making them. It sounds as though as you stated they are new made by Hohner but still on the market as excess stock.

I believe the most recent Hohner-branded concertinas were made in China.  An earlier generation were made in Italy, most likely by Bastari/Stagi.

Accoding to this post on FB, there is (was?) another concertina builder in South Africa whose name is Dolf Opperman. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1470693809737508/posts/2385144068292473/

I could not find more information, so it may be too soon to include it in the list.

 

And in the comment to the above FB post, there is yet another South African builder named Hannes Viljoen but he appears to have passed away many years ago.

Thanks.  I saw this too,  Someone wrote on that thread "Dolf Opperman was a concertina builder in South Africa but passed away" so I won't add him.  And Dan Worrall's book says Hannes Viljoen died in 2004, as you point out.
