Perry Werner Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Howdy: Just noticed on Ebay this lovely item which y'all might have interest in seeing. I'm sure it would be a good deal for someone in need of a few spare reeds. Otherwise it looks like someone used it to play Frisbee at one point with sad results! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Reed-plate-for-Wheat...A1%7C240%3A1318 Have fun, Perry Werner

PeterT Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Reed-plate-for-Wheat...A1%7C240%3A1318 Looks like a really bad case of woodworm, or, as an Estate Agent might say "some refurbishment required".
Jon C. Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Looks like a nice fixer upper! Just needs a few spares...
Marien Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Wow it looks like a real bargain, less than 2 pounds per rustless reed. And in addition you can win a bonus of leather residuals (quote `some leathers also`)...
Theo Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 (edited) I have a suspicion that the rust free reeds may be nickel silver, rather than steel. The photo is not clear enough for any degree of certainly, but it would be surprising for steel reeds to come through a century or so completely free of rust, while the reedpans have clearly had such a hard time. BTW I'm in need of a right hand reedpan for a Wheatstone 48 key model 22, reeds would be good too. Edited January 8, 2009 by Theo
