How many Anglo players in Scotland?

Recommended Posts

While trawling for information on those musicians in Scotland who play the English Concertina, I learned of a few musicians who, I'm told, play the Anglo Concertina.

Do you know of any others?

Cheers

Dick

Marie Fielding

Marie is principally a fiddle player, but has taken up Anglo concertina.

She is a member of John Carmichael's Ceilidh Band, who played on "Take the Floor" on BBC Radio Scotland last Saturday, and the broadcast included a solo set of tunes on concertina.

I've just remembered another player, Lindsay Porteous, of Culross, Fife.

Often, he would be the only other entrant in the concertina competition at Kirriemuir Festival.

Lindsay's main instrument is the Jew's Harp, at which he is, in my opinion, the best in Scotland,

but he plays several other instruments, including tin whistle, mouth organ and anglo concertina,

and has been known to invent a miscellaneous instrument for a Miscellaneous Instrument competition  .
