I've just bought a Wheatstone Baritone.

The Serial Number is 31366.

I've tracked it down in the ledger.

From the info HERE it looks like it was first sold on January 11th 1927.

However, can anyone tell me what the number 20 means in the 'A' Column?

Also, what do the capital letters K V W S mean?

Can I assume that the 8" means 8"s across the end from flat to flat?

What is the figure in the last column - 262? Is that £2. 62 pence or what?

Thanks for your help.

Cheers

Dick

Hi Dick , The 20 in the second column is the model , in your case 48 key as a 20a is listed a 56 key , next column is the tina discription , KVWS i think refer to Key Valve & Wrist Strap , whilst the 8" is the size whether total dia or an AF measurement i dont know , the 262 in the next column looks more like a ref number alloted to a buyer possibly but maybe someone will clarify who knows much more than i,

I am certain that i have read the explanations somewhere but my recall memory has about had it these days , too much Single Malt .

Thanks for all that Mike,

RE: 262: According to another very reliable source here, this is the explanation.

262 = Batch number, for controlling the various parts, at Wheatstone, since several identical instruments might be in production at any one time.
