Theo Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 About five years ago I acquired a box of concertina parts, which included a pair of tenor treble Aeola reedpans complete with original reeds and all in pretty good condition apart from some minor damage to the corners of a couple of chamber walls. I've had these up for sale for most of that time in the hope that a budding concertina builder would take them and build a new instrument round them. There has been only slight interest until a last month when I was contacted by someone interested in another instrument I was offering and saying he had a Wheatsone tenor treble Aeola with no reedpans. "The serial no is 31941. Just wondering if your reedpans are from my concertina" Photos followed a few emails later I could hardly believe my luck. My reedpans have no serial number on them unfortunately, but after checking some basic dimensions it was clear that the parts would go together so we have done the trade and one more Wheatstone Aeola is now complete and well on the way to playing again. On placing the reedpans in the bellows its obvious that they were not originally from the same instrument. The reedpans are a little deeper than the originals, so I'll need to adjust the height of the support blocks, but other than that its now a complete instrument, and just needs the usual renovations. I also have a Wheatstone model 22 that is missing its right hand reedpan and reeds. I'd love to get that one back in one piece.

Do you remember "The Fugitive"? I think that was the name of the TV programme. He was always looking for the one armed man.Now if you could find him he may be interested in your concertina as it is. Alan Day Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Depending on which arm he was missing! Your in with a 50-50 chance !! Al
