A2fan
Hi I'm guessing that chamois leather might be suitable for the above but can anybody recommend a source for it pre-cut - the straight parts are easy to do but the round bit in the centre of the reedpan is more tricky I imagine? What do repairers usually do? Thanks in advance

The size isn't too critical - it can be slightly larger than the wooden centre-piece. For the inner circle, you can either find something else of the appropriate diameter, use a wad-punch, or cut it out after you have glued the disc in place, using the wood to guide your new scalpel blade. Michael Marino
Wood dowel of the right diameter for the first cut and than follow around the inside with a brand new scalpel blade (surgical grade if you can get them). Wad punches will work if big enough as use them for cutting out the pads. Only it would have to be a pretty big one on most centre holes.
