Larry Stout Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Alistair Anderson plays both. The CD Grand Chain lists one cut with both Northumbrian Pipes and concertina, though I don't remember if both are playing at the same time.

There are a number of them on YouTube. A great testiment to her life and Peter's partnership with her. I chose this one because I love her rendition of the Abbey Reel. You might try Alistair Anderson on Youtube for the Northumbrian pipes. Aye Mark, those Kitty Hayes and Peter Laban YouTubes are a delight. However, it's actually the Northumbrian pipes I am interested in hearing, along with the E. C. Theo Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 I believe that Andy May (Northumbrian pipes) and Rob Say (Pipes and concertina) have a CD in preparation. I know they did some recording this Spring, but I don't know how near they are to releasing it. I'll ask next time I see either of them.

Pete Dunk Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 The Wind in the Reeds by the Cut and Dry Band includes Alistair Anderson playing both Northumbrian Pipes and English concertina along with other pipers. I wouldn't say that the concertina stands out much on any of the tracks but it's good stuff anyway.

Stephen Chambers Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Isn't there a big problem playing just about anything else with the Northumbrian pipes bacause of the pitch (between F & F#) that they're normally in?

There are several such who play in sessions round here. I don't think Jez Lowe would have taken on Andy May if Andy had insisted in playing in F blunt.

Well Sam, who plays with us, has a set of F Pipes & two friends who visited us during the summer, also had F sets of N Pipes, so I guess they are becoming more common.
