Okay...so I'm dense!

 

What does the * mean when it shows up on someones quote? Whatever it does....I clicked on it while previewing my post and my post vanished.

Are you talking about the magenta arrow next to the date of the original post? When you mouse over it, it shows * ? If so, it's a link called a post snap back. It's explained in the BB Code Help in the lower right of the text input screen. Hit the backspace key will take you back to your reply message still there.

This tag displays a little linked image which links back to a post - used when quoting posts from the board. Opens in same window by default.
